With the introduction of the Amazon Kindle, Amazon addressed the biggest hurdle plaguing the e-book category–content distribution. Just as Apple has been successful (dominant) with the iPod and digital music distribution, Amazon is likely to be successful with their Kindle store. It already has over 120,000 books available for immediate purchase and download.
If you are not familiar with the Amazon Kindle, it’s a new device that allows users to read downloaded or subscribed to magazines, books, and blogs. It has a very simple interface and the screen is VERY easy to read. Instead of using a transmissive (back lit) screen, it relies on a reflective high-resolution screen that is easy on the eyes and can actually be read in direct sunlight.
